Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 10, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed when you use FFH ("App"). We aim to collect as little personal data as possible while still providing core App functionality.
Core Privacy Principle: FFH is designed so that much of your trip data, notes, and media can remain stored on your device or within Apple services you choose to use, rather than on our own servers.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Depending on the features you use, the App may store the following locally on your device or in your shared Apple app group storage:
- Trip data: Trip names, activity type, start and end times, pauses, route points, and catch or find entries
- Location data: GPS coordinates used to record routes, map positions, and catch or find locations
- Photos and notes: Images, text notes, and related metadata you attach to catches or trips
- App preferences: Theme choices, language settings, model download state, and other preferences
- Authentication state: Local state needed to recognize your sign-in status across devices
2.2 Information Stored Through Apple Services You Enable
If you enable certain Apple platform features, your data may also be stored or transmitted through Apple-managed services:
- iCloud backup and restore: Backup files may be saved in your iCloud container
- Apple Watch connectivity: Lightweight status messages may be exchanged between iPhone and Apple Watch
- Live Activities: Current trip status may appear on supported Apple system surfaces
- Sign in with Apple: Authentication may use Apple account credentials and identifiers provided by Apple
2.3 Information Processed for AI Fish Identification
If you use fish identification features, the App may process an image you select or capture in order to generate predicted labels and confidence values. Depending on the implementation active in your version of the App, model files may be stored on your device after download.
2.4 Information Related to Premium Features
If you purchase or restore premium access, subscription status and entitlement information may be processed through Apple and third-party purchase infrastructure used by the App, such as RevenueCat, to manage access to paid features.
| Data Type | Why It Is Used | Where It Is Typically Stored |
|---|---|---|
| Trip records and catches | To show your history, maps, route summaries, and saved entries | On device, and optionally in your iCloud backup |
| Location data | To record trip paths and catch or find locations | On device while using the App, optionally in backups |
| Photos and notes | To let you save visual records and context for trips | On device, and optionally in your iCloud backup |
| Apple Watch sync messages | To reflect trip events across devices | Between paired Apple devices |
| Subscription and entitlement data | To determine access to premium functionality | Apple and applicable purchase infrastructure |
3. How We Use Information
We use information processed by FFH to:
- Provide trip logging, map recording, catch logging, and history features
- Support Apple Watch features and Live Activities
- Allow optional backup and restore
- Enable fish identification features
- Maintain premium access or usage limits when applicable
- Diagnose bugs, improve stability, and maintain the App
- Respond to support requests if you contact us
4. Location Information
FFH may request access to your location while you use the App. Location data is used to start trips from your current position, record routes, place trip markers, and associate catches or finds with map coordinates. If you do not grant location permission, some features may be unavailable or reduced in functionality.
5. AI Identification Features
Fish identification results are predictions, not verified facts. The App may process selected images for classification and may keep downloaded machine learning model files on your device for future use. We do not guarantee the correctness of any prediction.
6. Backups and Restore
If you use backup features, backup files may be written to your iCloud storage. Those backups may include trip records, route data, catches, notes, photos, and related App metadata. Restoring a backup may copy prior App data back onto your device.
7. Third-Party Services
The App may rely on third-party or platform services with their own privacy practices, including:
- Apple: App Store, iCloud, Sign in with Apple, Apple Watch connectivity, and Live Activities
- RevenueCat: Subscription and entitlement management, if premium access is offered
- Infrastructure for model delivery: Services used to deliver downloadable machine learning assets, if enabled in the App
Your use of those services is also subject to the privacy terms and policies of the relevant provider.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information only in limited situations such as:
- When required to provide a feature you choose to use
- When processing is handled by Apple or a service provider supporting App functionality
- When required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security
- As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets
9. Data Retention
Data stored locally typically remains on your device until you delete it, remove the App, or overwrite it through restore actions. Data stored in iCloud or processed through third-party services may remain available until removed under the controls and retention rules of those services.
10. Your Choices
You may be able to manage your information by:
- Revoking location, photo, iCloud, or other permissions in Apple device settings
- Deleting trips, notes, photos, or backups from within the App or your Apple storage
- Uninstalling the App
- Managing subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings
- Using Apple account controls for Sign in with Apple
11. Security
We use reasonable measures intended to help protect information processed by the App. However, no app, device, cloud service, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
12. Children's Privacy
FFH is not directed to young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner requiring direct collection by us. If you believe personal information has been provided improperly, contact us and we will review the request.
13. International Use
If you use the App from a country other than the operator's home jurisdiction, information may be processed in other jurisdictions depending on Apple services and other providers you use.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
